  • Feeling your absolute best is one of many ways to build up your confidence and succeed during this fall term.

Many factors of our daily routines affect how we look and feel.

Everyone is beautiful in their own way, inside and out, but here are four easy ways to enhance your natural beauty this semester.

    Don’t Forget Your Sleep

We all know that one of the many benefits of getting good quality sleep is looking healthier and feeling happier. Even with constant college-life activities such as lectures, lengthy study sessions, and getting together with friends, it’s important to consistently get seven to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep a night.

When your body receives better sleep, it can more effectively make new collagen, improving your skin quality. Slumber also reduces eye redness and bags, lessens hair-damaging hormones like cortisol, and alleviates stress.

    Skin Care Routine

Much like a good sleep schedule, a consistent and effective skincare routine is one of many easy ways to enhance your natural beauty this semester.

A few solid skincare methods you can do include:

    • Using the Right Cleanser

To find the best cleanser for you, determine what kind of skin you have. Cream-based products are perfect for dry skin, gel-based for oily skin, and water-based for neutral skin.

    • Moisturize

A quality moisturizer works to counteract harsher, salicylic acid-having products that dry out your skin. Oily skin requires less frequent moisturizing than dry or neutral skin.

    • Remember Sunblock

The primary function of sunblock is to protect your skin from harmful UV rays that may cause cancers to develop over time. However, a medium to high SPF product also reduces signs of aging and helps to minimize the appearance of acne.

You can see the positive results of upping your skincare routine take hold by staying committed to the process. You should combine these three methods twice daily.

    Hydrate or Die-drate

Knowing the correct amount of water to drink every day is subjective, as you truly should only be consuming enough to prevent dehydration. Unfortunately, many people fail to meet that minimum requirement.

The benefits of staying hydrated include a well-maintained metabolism, healthier skin, and decreased appetite.

Additionally, water is known to increase happiness and reduce stress.

While these two points are not directly physical, they play a huge role in adding a “glow” to your appearance.

    A Confident Smile

In terms of natural beauty, a healthy mouth should be vibrant, both in teeth and gums. No one wants yellow teeth, though it should be noted that pearly white chompers are not necessarily natural.

A little discoloring is normal! Ensure you’re caring for your dental health by using a clean toothbrush (replace old toothbrushes every two to three months) and dentist-recommended pastes and whiteners.

Having straight teeth boosts your confidence and encourages you to show off that beautiful smile. Many young adults realize the ease and benefits of Invisalign, which is less of a hassle than traditional braces.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Stressing about your physical appearance is counterproductive. Everyone is different, so find the beauty methods that work best for you.

Having confidence in yourself will prepare you for the challenges of the upcoming fall semester.
