Most people encounter others who work in various professions each day, from bankers to hairstylists to artists.
However, many jobs are done behind the scenes or in the middle of the night, where the majority of people do not get to observe them in action.

Here are three professions that you may not have heard of.
1. Expert Witness
When people think of legal trials, professionals such as attorneys and the judge usually come to mind, as does the jury that is comprised of peers of the person on trial.
However, an expert witness is someone who is very knowledgeable about a particular topic and who explains those topics to those at the trial.
For example, an expert witness finance might attend the trial of someone who is accused of a white-collar crime such as fraud.
An expert witness is important to a court case because they can explain facts that the average judge or jury member may be unaware of.
2. Sommelier
A sommelier is someone who has studied and passed certification exams to become incredibly informed about all aspects of wine. If this sounds like a dream job to you, know that the process of becoming a sommelier can take around three years or longer.
People in this career field often work in fine dining restaurants, where they assist with wine and food pairings for customers as well as things such as storing the wine.

3. Doula
When a person gives birth and wants someone there for emotional and physical support, they might hire a doula. Doulas differ from midwives in that they do not actually provide medical care during the birth of the child.
