  • Although you spend much less time in your old room once you go to college, there are still plenty of moments when you’re back at home with your parents.

Sometimes, you might even be taking classes online while you’re there.

For this reason, it may be important for you to revamp your bedroom when you get back from your dorm or apartment near campus.

You can upgrade the comfort, the good vibes, and the organization of your belongings. That way, you can still relax when you need to, but you can also get assignments done in a timely manner.

With that being said, think about employing some of these savvy tips on how to make your bedroom more productive.

    Make Sure It’s Well-Lit

It might seem like a minor detail, but the amount and quality of the lighting in your room can affect how engaged you are in your homework and studying.

When enough sunlight is shining on you, your mood is likely to improve and you may feel more energetic. This, in turn, helps you focus better on what you are doing.

Arrange your desk near the window in your room so that you can reap this benefit. You’ll also have the option to let in some fresh air over your workspace on particularly nice days.

For those instances where the weather is dreary and the sky is dark, you can get a sun lamp that mimics the sun’s natural rays so you aren’t at the mercy of the fickle clouds where you live.

    Create Separate Zones

It makes sense that it’s harder to get in a proper studying mindset when you’re lounging around in your bed. Your mind associates the spot with rest, not productivity. If you can’t seem to fight the temptation to go and topple over sideways onto your bed when you should be doing your homework, creating separate zones in your bedroom may help.

There are different ways you can go about this. A simple method is to get your desk and your bed on opposite ends of the room, potentially with your desk facing out the window.

With this arrangement, you won’t have to constantly look at your bed while you work. Another way to divide the room is to have curtains or dividers between your desk and bed. This physically slices the room into two halves: one for studying, one for chilling.

    Decorate with Color

Watching video lectures, taking notes, and completing problem sets can be a drag. It might even be downright stressful at times. You should therefore decorate your room with color to imbue it with positivity which will help see you through the challenges.

    other valuable tips:

Get pictures and photos that have lively hues and depict your interests so that you can put them up on the wall near your desk. If you enjoy art, you could put up some colorful works of your own as well.

Additionally, you could get a corkboard, which is perfect for serving as a holder for smaller photos and important reminders to yourself. Choosing an area rug in the perfect color is yet another way to raise your spirits while you sit there. All these lively decorations will aid you through difficult homework and study sessions.
