Las Vegas, Nevada
Recommending Sin City for your spring break vacation may be a little too on the nose, but if you prefer the wide-open desert over the crowded ocean beach, Vegas is a great place to visit. Even if you’re not looking to go all out with your partying, there are plenty of things to do in Vegas besides gambling and imbibing. There’s a wealth of hiking trails, golf courses, and lakes to enjoy during the day and plenty of shows from some of the biggest acts to enjoy at night.
Havasu Falls, Arizona
Havasu Falls in Arizona is an excellent spring break destination if you want something a little slower and more nature focused. The Havasu Falls waterfall hike is one of the most beautiful in the country, and spring is the ideal time to go, as there are fewer crowds and more moderate weather. Plus, it’s an excellent campground if you want to spend a couple of days enjoying the sights and sounds of the area and visiting other waterfalls.
Many people also go to Havasu Falls for the amazing off-roading trails. If you’ve got an off-road vehicle such as a 4×4 or an ATV (all-terrain vehicle), Havasu Falls is filled with off-road trails for an incredible experience. Just make sure you’re properly prepared with the proper safety precautions, such as the right tires for your off-road adventure.
New York, New York
Many people use spring break to get out of the city, but spring is one of the best times to visit the Big Apple. It comes right before the busy tourist season in New York, so you’ll save money, and you won’t feel as crowded at the tourist sights. You’ll also get to see the city bloom, including the famous cherry blossoms. Other amazing things to do in the spring in New York include:
- Picnicking in Central Park
- Visiting the New York Botanical Garden
- Seeing a Yankees or Mets baseball game
- Taking a sightseeing cruise around Manhattan
Breckenridge, Colorado
Many people consider spring break the end of winter, but it’s still a great opportunity to indulge in winter fun, such as skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. Breckenridge is one of the best non-beach destinations for spring break to enjoy all these wintertime activities. Breck, as it’s known, is a family-friendly spot but also a great place to have fun with friends, and spring is much less busy and more affordable. Plus, there are plenty of other things to do in town, including visiting the renowned Arts District.
