With the enjoyment most children get from swimming in a pool, your parents will share that same excitement if you have the goods to land a college swimming scholarship.
For both men and women, a dip in the pool might be your best chance to get much-needed funding for your education. There are nearly 700 schools that have a swimming program from D1 to NAIA, and according to ASM Sports Group, there’s approximately a seven percent chance you can be the rightful owner of one.
Ice Hockey
One of the main reasons why the U.S. women’s hockey team dominates in the Winter Olympics may be because this sport continues producing top talent collegiately with scholarships.
Ice hockey is the easiest sport for women to get a scholarship at a nearly 20 percent success rate. Most teams can offer up to 18 scholarships per squad, so there’s plenty to go around between the 108 programs.
Men’s hockey is similar, as it’s the second-best sport to play to earn one. But since there are roughly five times as many men’s hockey teams as women’s, it makes sense why the success rate is lower. However, a scholarship rate of 12 percent is a solid ratio for that many schools.
Men’s Baseball
Men can go for the ping and swing for the fences to get a baseball scholarship. Between the divisions of college athletics, many schools want your services.
All you need to do is impress one of the 1,492 programs across the country, and you might have punched your golden ticket.

Of the nearly 900 programs in the country, 60-80 scholarships are available to hand out per team. You may not have the fortitude to suit up for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide, but simple math says that’s only one of the 72,000 available.
For women, soccer is equivalent to football since it has the most participation. There are over 1,700 women’s soccer teams doling out scholarships, so there’s plenty to be had.
Lacrosse
Alas, the best sport for people to target may be the poshest sport on the list, but it will pay dividends, and that is lacrosse. Their numbers are equal at around 13 percent on both sides, making it the best chance for men and the second-best for women.
