  • Students everywhere look forward to a little rest and relaxation during spring break. Some think they have to miss out on this vacation due to limited finances. Fortunately, there are some simple things you can do to ensure you have the opportunity to have some fun during spring break.

    1. Group Travel

Get as many of your friends together that can safely fit in one vehicle. Travel expenses are one of the most expensive parts of spring break. If you take only one vehicle, then you can share the expense of gas and even share a hotel room or vacation rental with some extra roll-away beds or sleeping bags.

    2. Avoid Fast Food

Even though it is tempting to stop at fast food restaurants during your trip, you can save a lot of money by foregoing this treat. Pack your own food and snacks for the road. Make sure any hotel or vacation rental you stay in has a refrigerator and microwave so you can easily prepare your own food. Bring an ice chest on your road trip filled with bottles of water, soda and juice.

    3. Plan Early

If you want to rent beachfront accommodations, you need to make your reservation early in order to save money and to ensure a spot is still available for you. Comparing online rental services is likely your best source for getting the best deals. There are several sites such as Gulf Realty Associates where you can look at Florida beachfront rentals. The earlier you make your reservation, the more money you can save.

    4. Student Discounts

Be sure to bring along your student identification card. Many hotels, restaurants and various tourist attractions offer discounts to students. Especially during spring break, business owners usually go out of their way to offer student discounts. In some cases, even if you don’t see a student discount listed, it will be provided if you inquire about it.

    5. Avoid Alcohol

Many students think spring break and alcohol go hand-in-hand. However, you do not need alcohol to have a good time. Not only is alcohol very expensive, it often leads to problems that you don’t need to have to deal with when you are supposed to be having a good time.

Follow some of these tips, and you will see that you are able to afford a fun spring break. There is no need to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Get out there, and have some fun.
