The landscape of college football is ever-changing, but the history of their storied programs remains the same.
While there are several places worth taking a trip to, these are the stadiums every college football fan should visit.
Autzen Stadium—Oregon Ducks
Unlike other stadiums on this list, Oregon’s Autzen Stadium makes you feel close to the action with a capacity of only 54,000. Even though the stadium only seats that few, it’s common for most games to approach nearly 60,000 people from standing-room-only tickets.
Although there are fewer fans in the crowd, it doesn’t make the game any quieter, considering Autzen Stadium is one of the loudest places to play in the country. Enjoy the foghorn and mascot doing push-ups after every Duck score!
Michigan Stadium—Michigan Wolverines
The opposite of Autzen is Michigan Stadium and its nearly 110,000 seating capacity. This famous stadium is the largest in the United States and had the largest crowd of over 115,000 people for a game in 2013. If you think tickets are easy to come by because there are 110,000 of them, think again; Michigan has had over 100,000 Wolverines faithful for over 200 consecutive games.
The NFL and college football have many differences, including in their priorities. Unlike the NFL, college football stadiums are all about fitting in as many people as possible.
Notre Dame Stadium—Notre Dame Fighting Irish
One of the best things South Bend, Indiana, has to offer is the beautiful campus of Notre Dame. Based on the history of Notre Dame football, it’s hard to exclude them from any college football bucket list, regardless of your feelings about them.
Walk around the hollowed grounds that saw multiple Heisman Trophy winners and championships and snap a picture in front of Touchdown Jesus during your stay.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium—Florida Gators
With a moniker of “the Swamp,” you know that Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is a must for all college football enthusiasts. The Florida Gators’ relevance may not be the same since Urban Meyer left, but seeing the orange walls in person will intimidate any opponent. So, pack your bag, warm up your arms doing the Gator Chomp, and join the nearly 90,000 folks taking in the game.

Tiger Stadium—LSU Tigers
In all actuality, every SEC stadium provides a reason to visit. At the very least, you know you’re going to get to watch the best players in the country, sans a trip to Vanderbilt. But the SEC stadium that reigns supreme is Tiger Stadium in Louisiana. A night game at LSU is a sight to see (unless you root for the opposite team). At capacity, it would rank as the fifth-most populous city in the state, so you know the game will be loud.
Attending a game at the stadiums every college football fan should visit should be a priority if you are a college football diehard. Thanks to the NCAA’s chaos, it might be a conference game for some teams, even if they are thousands of miles apart.
