Just because we’re in August doesn’t mean that it’s too late to enjoy the final days of summer.
Even if school is back in session when you’re reading this, that doesn’t mean it’s too late.
There is still plenty of time after classes or during the weekends to have some fun in the sun. To help you get as much enjoyment as you can out of the summer, here’s a list of the best activities to do before summer ends.
Throw a Backyard Party
It doesn’t matter if it’s a pool party, bonfire, or barbecue; a backyard party is the best way to get everyone together before the end of the season. It doesn’t even necessarily have to be in a backyard, either. You can have it in the grassy area in front of your apartment building or at the local park. As long as there’s good food and drinks, nobody will care where you hold the party.
Go to a County Fair
Most of the best county fairs take place during the dog days of summer. While the late summer days can be scorching, it makes for a great way to wrap up your break.
There’s always a whole host of wonderful foods to try and the best rides you can find outside of an amusement park. Even if you just walk around, you and your friends will have a great time checking out all there is to see.
Catch a Movie at the Drive-In
While drive-ins aren’t nearly as popular as they used to be, they have been making a slight comeback in recent years. Once you’ve been to one, you can kind of understand why they went out of style—they’re not the ideal way to see a film.
However, they are a unique experience, so if you have one nearby, now would be the perfect time to check it out before the weather gets too cold.
Plan a Girls’/Boys’ Night Out
Though summer is on its way out, that doesn’t mean you have to go all-out. Instead, do something simpler like a night out with some close friends. Grabbing a bite to eat at your favorite restaurant and making the rounds at your local bars (if you’re of age) are some of the most memorable summer nights you can have in college. Great friends lead to a great time no matter what you do.

Get Outdoorsy
Though many of these suggestions take place outdoors, our final recommendation for activities to do before summer ends is to get out and really explore nature. There are tons of examples of things you can do outdoors, but no summer season is complete without a camping trip.
It’s a great way to spend the weekend with those close to you and experience what Mother Nature has to offer. Even if you’re not a super outdoorsy person, everyone should try camping at some point in their life.
