The same goes for the color. For instance, if you’re going for an underwater theme, you’ll want to use various shades of blue, potentially throwing in some white if you want to brighten the room up a bit.
Obviously, you don’t have to use this idea, but whatever you do should abide by a strict theme. Any objects or colors that clash with the theme will throw off the look you’re trying to achieve.
Utilize Personal Items
Nothing makes a room homier than your own personal items. These can range from pictures of family and friends to homemade crafts you made as a kid. Regardless of what you choose, it’s essential to have something special to you and reminiscent of your past.
No matter who you are, you’re going to go through some level of being homesick. This is likely your first real experience with moving out, and that feeling will hit you eventually.
Of course, depending on your personal effects, they could clash with your ideal theme. You’ll want to take this into account when planning out how you want your room to look.
Make the Bed Perfect

However, there are things you can do to spice it up. Dorm beds are rarely comfortable, so you’ll want to start with a mattress pad topper. Follow that up with a cozy set of sheets and a top cover.
