  • Even though studying ahead sounds super fun and easy, there are some things that people don’t tell you about.

And that is all the legal requirements that come with it.

Getting a student visa is quite a journey and that is just the last step of the legal aspect. If you are looking into studying abroad, here are all the legal requirements you will need to have in order to study abroad.

    Proof of Age Card

Instead of creating your passport everywhere in case, someone needs to identify you, look into getting a proof of age card. It is a small card that has your name, date of birth and a photo.

Having that card will make everything easier, as losing a passport when you are in a foreign country can be quite a hassle. Check out the precise requirements for the county you are going into.

    An Acceptance Letter

When you are applying for a student visa, an acceptance letter for where you will be studying is mandatory. Depending on the program you are joining, the admission requirements will differ.

But no matter where you are going to be studying at, the first step to this journey is getting the acceptance letter to the institution you have chosen. Alongside that, you will need to provide a personal profile or a motivational letter.

    A Medical Evaluation

A medical evaluation is just as important as an acceptance letter when you are going to be studying abroad. It is necessary because both counties need to know that the student is healthy and can participate in the chosen programs.

The school that you are attending must be notified if you are struggling with things such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders as well as things such as severe allergies and diabetes. They need to know that any condition that you have is stable.

If you have a condition that requires prescriptions, they have to write to you both the prescription and the approval to take the supply abroad with you. When you are applying for a student visa a doctor will do a thorough check-up including your mental health.

    A Valid Passport

Even though this one is obvious, you will need to have a valid passport in order to go into another country. You can check if your passport is valid by checking the issue date on the data page which is in the fort of your passport.

Passports are valid for five years if you were under sixteen years old when it was issued, if you were older than sixteen it is valid for ten years. For some counties, your passport should be valid for at least 30 days after leaving a foreign country.

Some countries will require even six months of validity past your leaving date. If you are not sure what the requirements for the county you are wanting to go to are, visit an immigration lawyer as soon as possible. They will help you get everything ready for your trip. It is always better to ask for professional help than risking it on your own.

    A National Criminal Background Check

Something that you don’t expect is having to get a criminal background in order to get the visa. Depending on where you live it might be called differently, but it is usually known as the national background check.

Once you get the clearance you will have to send that specific document to their address along with a set of fingerprints. Something that you should keep in mind is that it can take up to 12 weeks to get clearance.

Your Academic Qualifications and Test Scores

Depending on the requirements of the school you are applying to you will have to provide them with your academic qualifications. There are 6 types of qualifications, a higher certificate, a national diploma, the bachelor’s degree, an honours degree, a master’s degree, and doctoral degree.

    other valuable tips:

Unlike diplomas, most degrees are recognised internationally. If you are in high school you will be sending results from your SAT’s. Some schools will require multiple exams to be admitted as proof that you are consistent with your grades. In some cases, you will also have to be tested in the fluidity of the language of the county you are going to.

As you can see, there are so many things that you will need to get done and think about before getting to study abroad. No matter how stressful it is, you need to acquire all the documentation on time in order to study abroad.

Don’t let your dreams come crashing down just because you don’t do enough research on the required documentation. Even though it seems like a very exhausting process it comes with so many benefits. Everything will pay off in the end.
